SUMMER CAMP DAY 23

 No cards, no luck, out of the WSOP seniors. Will try my last bullet at the Nugget seniors tomorrow. Then home Saturday or Sunday. Had a nice lunch at Cafe Americano then on to Spinetti's Gambling Store to see if they might be interested in the balance of my Josephine sets. They weren't. Oscar was kind enough to give me a ride back to the Fremont where I am relaxing till dinner. Got an Email from an old customer who I haven' thought of in ages. Always nice to hear from people I have dealt with or known in the past. Anyway over and out for now. Stay tuned!

SUMMER CAMP DAY 22

 It's been an interesting day. I got knocked out of the WSOP Seniors early with a pair of Queens. That was the best hand I had seen in three hours. I lost to a flopped flush. I then went back to the Nugget and played in their 1 O'Clock 25K guarantee where I was also card dead and ended up out fairly early. As I was sitting outside the playing area a young man (Everyone is a young man) tapped me on the shoulder out of the blue and said that he wanted me to know that he thought I was the best player at the table. Well, that brightened up my whole day. 

My friend Jason texted me that he was trying to get dinner reservations at the Carbone in the Aria. I suggested that if that didn't work to try Nabu. We ended up with 4 for dinner that included Jason, myself, Kevin and Wayne. Had a really good meal, great conversation and Wayne graciously picked up the check. Before dinner I signed up to enter the seniors B flight tomorrow. Hopefully the cards will run my way a little. Stay tuned!!

SUMMER CAMP DAY 21

 A slow boring day. Waffle at the Nugget for breakfast then the One O'clock daily deep stack. I struggled through the re-buy period but got knocked out when a player flopped the nut flush. 

Got back to the room just in time to sign up for NuJax Poker Stars Omaha 8 or better home game and finished 2nd. Now time for a good nights sleep and the big seniors tournament at the WSOP tomorrow at 10:00. Stay tuned!

SUMMER CAMP DAY 20

 It did not go well in the Mystery Bounty. Why, ask me why!! I made a very stupid play because I went brain dead. Min cashed.

 I will try my best to make up for my dreadful play on Wednesday in the WSOP seniors tournament. This afternoon I played in a small WSOP tournament on line and won $35 net. Whopee doo. But at least I got my confidence back and really played well. I also got a text from Myke at UNLV who bought a $10 ivory from me so it wasn't a terrible day. Going downstairs for a bite to eat. May play in a small tourney at the Nugget tomorrow. Stay Tuned.

SUMMER CAMP DAY 19

 Boring day today. Walked over to Walgreens then to the "D" for a breakfast of way over priced Eggs Benedict. Then back to the Freemont for a relaxing day of watching the U.S. Open and playing a little poker on line. At 6:00 I decided to play in NuGuys Omaha 8 or better tournament on line. I was down to my last few big blinds but managed to pull some decent cards and ended up winning the tourney. 

I headed over to the Nugget for what I thought was going to be a nice dinner at the Red but they informed me they were out of food. That's right OUT of FUCKING FOOD. What a joke. I went to Vic & Anthonys's and had a great meal of steak tartar, Caesar salad and roast quail. Lovely. Tomorrow at noon is the re-start of the mystery bounty. Stay tuned.

SUMMER CAMP DAY 18

 My friend David picked me up at the Freemont and we drove over to the Orleans to sign up for the 11 O'clock seniors tournament. The tournament had 30K starting stack and at $1200 ante, $1200 big blind and $600 small blind I had chipped up to around $55K. In the small blind a flopped the nut straight and bet it quite heavily while the big blind kept calling. He managed to burn me with a runner, runner flush and I went to Al's Oyster Bar to drown my sorrows in a PO BOY Shrimp sandwich. 

Lyfted back to the Nugget to see how my friend Ninja was doing and the to my room at the Fremont. Now just relaxing, eating jelly beans and watching the U.S. Open. Don't know yet what I will do tomorrow. Stay tuned!!!!

SUMMER CAMP DAY 17

 "What a day this has been what a rare mood I'm in". Yes indeed it's been a good day and night. Played the 1st flight of the Nugget's 250K guarantee Mystery Bounty but got knocked out so tried the the 2nd flight and ended up bagging 115K. What that means is that I am in the money and will return on Monday at noon for day 2. What does a mystery bounty mean? It means for every player I eliminate from the tournament I get a mystery bounty that can range from $300 - 25K. On the final hand before bagging I lost 91K with AK vs. 10's. Don't know what I am going to do this weekend but Stay Tuned!

SUMMER CAMP DAY 16

 Bad day at Black Nugget. Aces cracked. In addition, I walked to three nail parlors and could not get a manicure. Stay tuned better things ahead.

SUMMER CAMP DAY 15

 Interesting day. Lyfted out to the South Point Casino where I met with my old friend Bud Meyer. He had a table at the Casino Collectible show and had a badge for me and allowed me to hang out at his table and set my set of Josephine chips out.

I sold a few $10's and $25's and did some trading. 

Mid Afternoon I met up with the Ninja and had a nice visit with Terry King who organizes a seven card stud game every Wednesday. Terry is an old timer who was married to Chip Reese and hung out with all the great poker players of the 70's and 80's including Doyle Brunson and Stu Unger. Her recollections of that period are simply incredible. Had a bite to eat at Zenshin in the South Point and Lyfted back to the Freemont. No poker today but will resume tomorrow. Time for a nap. SUMMER CAMP DAY 14

Today was moving day. For some reason that I have not been able to figure out the hotels can only let you have 14 days then you have to move. I moved across the street to the Freemont. They do have a resort fee but the room is twice as nice as the 4Queens. 

I went deep into the 1:00 tournament but a mistake I made knocked me out. Tomorrow I am off to South Point and the Poker Chip show. Hoping to sell a few sets of my ivories.

SUMMER CAMP DAY 13

 Today I just spent vegging. Went to my favorite book store, Writers Block, bought Neal Stephenson's "Fall" or "Dodge in Hell". Had a nice smoothie and even bought a cheap pack of modern playing cards because of the wonderful Nouveau designed courts. 

Tomorrow is moving day. Have to leave the 4Queens after 14 days so headed to the Freemont across the street. Tried to download either Spotify or Pandora but I found the process not very user friendly. Tomorrow I will play in the Nugget's deep stack 25K guarantee at 1:00. Stay tuned.

SUMMER CAMP DAY 12

 Well things finally turned around. Had a very nice run to the final table in the 1:00 PM Deep stack 25K guarantee at the Nugget. Actually it is my second final table.

My good friend Ninja was at the same table for most of the time and we had a hoot. Glad I could finally spread some good news. Stay tuned.

SUMMER CAMP DAY 10

 Not much going on today. Played several entries into the Ultimate Re-Entry at the Nugget but alas to no avail. Will try again tomorrow. The Nugget has a very nice.. Japanese restaurant called RED and I have not had a bad meal there until tonight. Back to the 4 Queens for a little rest. Stay tuned.

SUMMER CAMP DAY 9

 Started off at 7:30 this morning with breakfast at Binions Cafe with my friend David who drove us to the Paris where we registered for the weekly seniors tournament with a 9:00 start. I left at 10:00 but David ended up chopping first and second. I took the LYFT back to the 4 Queens and hung out until the 1:00 start of the daily 25k deep stack at the Nugget. There I ended up at the same table with my good friend James Battaglia A.K.A. Ninja. Jimmie and I both ended up in the $$. I cashed in 18th place out of 209 and Ninja was still alive when I left. I was down to 2 big blinds with 37 to go and managed through skill and luck to run 12K up to 200K for the cash. Tomorrow I will play in the Nugget 200k guarantee. Stay tuned!!

SUMMER CAMP DAY 8

 After a day off went at it again. Took more bad beats than Mike Tyson. Horrible! Will try again tomorrow at the WSOP weekly seniors tournament. Did manage to have a great meal at Vic & Anthony's. Stay tuned!

SUMMER CAMP DAY 7

 After my grueling session yesterday I took the day off. No poker just walking around and enjoying the Fremont Street Experience. Breakfast at Binions, a delicious root beer float and an early dinner at the Nugget's mexican restaurant Cadillac. Tomorrow and Wednesday back at it. Stay tuned.

SUMMER CAMP DAY 6

 The sun finally came out. Entered the Nugget 1:00 PM deep stack 25K guarantee. Caught some good cards, played 12 hours to the final table and came in 7th out of 268. My confidence is restored. The payout is in casino chips so of course management is hoping you drop a few bucks in the casino on the way out. Sorry Charley. There was a huge line at the cashiers cage so I just came back to my hotel. So other than playing poker not much else to report today.

SUMMER CAMP DAY 5

 Played at the Nugget in a small buy in with a 10K guarantee. Starting stack of 20K and ran it up to 70K. Then I gave it all back but at least I had a decent run of cards for a change. 

Somehow I managed to get an insect bite on my wrist and it itches like the devil. Probably a spider bite. 

Tomorrow at the Nugget again but this time a 25K guarantee. Stay tuned!!

P.S. Went to Vic & Anthony's for a late bite to eat. Had the greatest steak tartar, Caesar salad and bread pudding. The bread pudding won the best desert in Las Vegas and it was.

SUMMER CAMP DAY 4

 Summer Camp Day 4 was exactly the same as 1,2 and 3. Tournaments did not treat me well. No cards and bad beats. Must have really pissed off the poker Gods. Nice sushi dinner, to bed and back at em tomorrow. Over due for some decent runs.

SUMMER CAMP DAY 3

 Day 3 of summer camp could not have been worse. Played in the Wynn seniors event. Got knocked out. Re-bought got knocked out. Went to the Golden Nugget and entered their 200K guaranteed got knocked out. Re-bought got knocked out. I will not bore you with how terrible my hands were or my bad beats when I managed to make a hand. I will get up off the mat and play again tomorrow.

The Nugget has an excellent Japanese restaurant called RED where I had one of the best Sweet & Sour Pork dinners I have ever had. That and a glass of Kirin all for $30. Not bad. Pray for me.
